Makes me think of Hitchcocks' 1963 movie 'The Birds' ..

  • Light tower on the island of Urk.
  • Same lighttower, but now at dawn...
  • People of Urk sitting in front of their house. The guy in the middle looks like the lighthouse operator...
  • Church on the island of Urk.
  • Over the churchdoor is written 'The Lord is Our Leader'. Urk used to be an isolated island in the 'Zuiderzee', the sea, now 'encapsulated' between dried seabeddings ('Polders'). It's now connected to the mainland.<br /> People from Urk, most fishermen, are really God fearing people. Quite interesting community. A Must see!!
  • Harbour on Urk. The place to eat fish!!!
  • Fishing trawlers of Urk (all carry the letters UK plus a number)
