• Sevilla Santa Justa station replaced Seville’s original 19th century station in 1992. The station was built to accommodate the high speed line from Madrid and coincided with the hosting of the 1992 World Expo in Seville. It’s a spacious, modern building – its main concourse lined with large windows that look out onto the platforms
 • Breakfast & Cofffee in Sevilla Central Station... before we jumped in the high-speed train to Cordoba..
 • My camera's shutterspeed (1/80) was too short to correctly capture the (scanning dot) digital display..
• We took this very train to get to and from Cordoba. Great experience.
Alta Velocidad Española (AVE) is a service of high-speed trains operating at speeds of up to 300 km/h (186 mph) on dedicated tracks in Spain.
The name is literally translated from Spanish as "Spanish High Speed", but also a play on the word ave, meaning "bird".
 • Security Check...
 • Inside shot of the highspeed train.
Stylish, straightforward, confortable..
 • See that red triangle shaped bar??
It carries 25 Kilovolts!!
The high speed line was constructed at standard gauge, in contrast with the rest of the Spanish railway network. Voltage is 25 kV AC instead of 3000 V DC. Twelve transformers feed the overhead wires. Some 8 kilometers (5.0 mi) before the start and end points of the line, the line merges with local DC tracks.
 • Just near the main entrance of the Cordoba Central station, I noticed this 'exhibit' by obviously some artist (dunno his name [yet])
Just a pile of junked PC's and monitors. Some leds were lit and the screens showed colored bars.
The whole contraption was 'sprinkled' with white paint and pieces of broken plaster.
Nice!!!!
 • Hmm, do I see some leds blinking??
