My first (analogue) SLR camera: The Canon A-1.
This is 1978, folks!!! Clunky stuff. Built to last. This camera worked extremely well for me.
It had cost me an arm and a leg and I was still a student at that time...... Go figure.
Canon introduced this revolutionary concept camera that took the photographic world by storm.
It was the first camera with a 7 segment red LED display in the viewfinder, showing shutter-speed, aperture and flash info. Amazing feature for that time....
I bought the body together with the famous aspherical 50mm / 1.2 lens.... (that lens alone weighted over 1 kilo!! That's even more then the camerabody itself!!)
Added a motordrive (5 fps !!!) and a Databack later. Awesome (but HEAVY)
I (literally) sailed the seven seas, have travelled all around the world with this great machine. It NEVER failed in all those NINE years.
My plan is to scan in some of the many (mainly) slides that I shot with it,
and publish them on my site later on, time permitting of course..
I sold this camera in 1987.
